It's a beautiful old Japanese style inn- comfortable, unpretentious, and very welcoming.

Irori Sosuke is one of our few favorite inns in Japan, always the place we
choose when we can get to Takayama. It's a beautiful old Japanese style inn
- comfortable, unpretentious, and very welcoming. The owner and her staff
are incredibly helpful and friendly, and the meals are fabulous, served in
an open tatami-mat room. This place is a definite find.

The best part was the cosy furo bath we sneaked in the evening with our Yukatas.

We stayed one night in this basic traditional Japanese style little Minshuku. Located near a busy road, 10 min to the railway station, 20-25 minutes walk to the old town alleys - a bit far away but it was ok. The staff was efficient: the morning cleaning activities started early, as in the countryside they always start :) Our room was clean, small but nice for one day - the best part was though the cosy furo bath we sneaked in the evening with our Yukatas.

The rooms were nice and the place had a lot of character.

irori.jpgWe booked this because it was cheap. It turned out to be a great value! The rooms were nice and the place had a lot of character. They were also selling yukata for 2100 yen cheaper than I've seen anywhere else. I'd definitely recommend it. We didn't eat any meals there but they do serve them.

This ryokan has a very nice atmosphere. For us that comes from Europe, we liked the bath very much. We have used the safety arrangements. It was very easy to find. We asked at the train station and found the ryokan directly. The staff was very good and helpful. We would like another light in the room that's not bright.

Very nice atmosphere. The food was delicious. The Japanese dish should be a must to all tourists. Minshuku Sosuke is absolutely recommendable to others. It was very easy to find the location. I appreciated that friendly staff explained on how to eat the Japanese meal. Very informative as well.
