Friendy and helpful staff, very clean & tidy and rooms well serviced. Good central location, 12pm curfew as usual with ryokans can hinder partying but you'll get that everywhere. Would stay again for sure.

It was a great traditional Japanese inn experience.

We loved our stay at Homeikan. The staff were very friendly and helpful. There was always someone there who could speak some English. Very clean. It was a great traditional Japanese inn experience. The only problem we had was a little difficulty in finding it.

Homeikan was great and I would highly reccommend it to everyone!

Homeikan was great and I would highly reccommend it to everyone! Definately take a taxi from Ueno station or the Metro, because it is impossible to find the first time! There is no sign with English lettering either. We stayed in Honkan, where two of the staff spoke perfect English while others spoke some English. The baths were fine, and there are Western style toilets. We really enjoyed the experience, thank you so much Homeikan staff!!!

The owner drove us directly to the Jigokudani Monkey Park.

The proprietor's friendliness and hospitality more than makes up for the somewhat dated facility (its heyday was likely in 1975.) The owner drove us directly to the Jigokudani Monkey Park (the main local attraction), cooked us a fantastic traditional Japanese breakfast, and went out of his way to make us feel comfortable -- even serving us sake shots in the hotel's own "onsen" hot spring! We had a great stay.

The hotel Onsen is also excellent. All in all we had a really relaxing stay here and would definitely recommend the hotel.

We had a wonderful stay at your ryokan! The hospitality was awesome! The staff was really warm and helpufl; recommendations for things to do were great! We really enjoyed the scrumptious traditional breakfast. I've been to many ryokans, but Itsukushima truly will be a memorable experience because of the hospitality we've received and lovely meals!

The hostel is very easy to find, even arriving on my own at 10pm without directions. My room was very quiet even though the street was the sort of place where businessmen party - although it has some dodgy-looking nightclubs, it didn't seem dangerous or intimidating to a solo female walking around.

The best part was the cosy furo bath we sneaked in the evening with our Yukatas.

We stayed one night in this basic traditional Japanese style little Minshuku. Located near a busy road, 10 min to the railway station, 20-25 minutes walk to the old town alleys - a bit far away but it was ok. The staff was efficient: the morning cleaning activities started early, as in the countryside they always start :) Our room was clean, small but nice for one day - the best part was though the cosy furo bath we sneaked in the evening with our Yukatas.
