This is definitely a traditional style inn.

This is definitely a traditional style inn, complete with traditional beds, very traditional bath, and a decent sized breakfast (which is decent if your usual breakfast isn't a Denny's grand slam size) . If you want a quiet place this is it. The directions are a little confusing to get there. Basically at Heian-Dori station exit via the elevator . Hang a right once you get off and it's straight ahead and you turn right at an alley just before the cosmetic store.

Location is great - close to all onsen and right on the canal.

yamamotoya_kinosaki.JPGService was amazing and extremely helpful. We were very happy with the size of our room and the outlook onto the Japanese garden was very serene. Location is great - close to all onsen and right on the canal. We had a little trouble finding the guesthouse as we only had the name in English, but everyone we asked along the way was very helpful and friendly.

The staff were very helpful.

yamatoyahonten.jpgThe staff were very helpful when my internet didn't work. They offered me theirs and showed me an internet cafe up the road!

The room was big and attractive.

When we arrived, we were impressed with the front entrance. We were greeted by friendly staff in traditional dress. We felt very safe. We loved the snow monkeys and walking along the little street. It would be helpful to have staff who speak English, but it was ok. I wish I could speak more Japanese! The room was big and attractive. The view was good.
