We stayed at Yamatoya Honten for 3 nights in August. It is a very recommendable ryokan. It has a good atmosphere and is so near from Dotonbori street that we could see it from our window. In every walking day we returned to the ryokan to relax before going out at night because it is in the middle of the night zone of Osaka. The staff was also nice and helpful.We also thank you very much for the tea pot and the hot water. It was always prepared.

There was a safe in our room and we felt very safe leaving valuables in our room. The ryokan is a short taxi ride from the train station and Takayama can be reached easily by bicycle for a day of touring. The Takayama Folk Village is also only 5 minutes from the ryokan. The staff are wonderful. We have never felt more welcome at a hotel. Staff were very attentive but always unobtrusive. We were amazed at the thoughtfulness of the staff. On short notice the cheff made a vegan menu, we returned from our evening meal to find our bath filled and ready for a relaxing soak. We also requested 2 bicycles to tour around the town, these were ready and waiting after breakfast. Hanoumi is a fantastic host! We hope to see you in Hokkaido soon!

Stayed at Hida-Gassho-en, Gifu Prefecture.

What an utterly charming place. We felt like we had a true, traditional Japanese experience. Our room was very authentic and comfortable and the staff were so kind, helpful and attentive. Shibu onsen is a great place to visit. Make sure to visit the monkey park to see the delightful macaques bathing in the hot springs.

Nice atmosphere and excellent Japanes food. Onsen with massage chair was really relaxing. We felt very safe and secure. Staff is attentive, very good and fluent in English.
